sir,

It is reported to me that early this morning, between 1 and

2 o'clock, a large band of men, apparently robbers, with painted

faces and wearing masks, broke into the house of Mr. Teo Tee

Swee, east of the Standard Oil Company.

I have not yet been able to learn all the details of this

ease, but I understand that the robbers ransacked the house

and stole many articles of value.

I am informed, though the news seems hardly max credible,

that the police, instead of arresting the robbers have arrested

Mr. Teo Yee Swee and some of his servants, who are now detained

at the Central Police Station, the police having taken possession

of his house.

I have the honour to request that you will telephone to

the Central Police Station to order the immediate release of

Er. Teo Tee 3wes and that a careful enquiry may be made into

this extraordinary case without delay.

(Signed)

I have eto.

Gecil Kirke.

Cona ul.
